Galindez Slope

Txurdinaga와 Otxarcoaga 지구는 빌바오Bilbao의 제 3 구역에 위치해 있는 도시의 외곽 지역 중 하나이다.
이 지구들은 전후 시대 노동자들을 위한 대량의 주택들이 지어질 때 생겼다. 당시 도시를 둘러싸고 있는 산의 비탈면에도 건물들이 지어지면서 도시 서비스와 인프라는 매우 취약했다. 불균형적인 성장의 결과로 이곳 헤수스 갈린데즈 Jesus Galindez가의 바위 경사면은 도시 내 고립된 지대처럼 남게 되었으며, 오늘날까지도 도시를 물리적 사회적으로 분리시키는 기능을 하고 있다.
빌바오 중심지에 도시 인프라의 개선을 위한 대대적인 작업이 진행되었을 때, 시청에서는 아래와 같은 목적으로 도시 외곽 지역에서도 일련의 프로젝트를 진행했다.
·외곽 지역의 도시 거주 조건을 향상시킬 것
·물리적인 장벽을 제거하여 대부분 험한 경사면에 위치하고 있는 외곽 지역으로의 접근성을 향상시킬 것
·사회적 장벽을 제거하고, 외곽 지역의 거주 조건을 도심과 비슷한 수준으로 끌어올리기 위한 환경을 마련할 것

우리의 헤수스 갈린데즈 제방 복원 사업은 반드시 이러한 배경을 살펴 볼 필요가 있다.

PREVIOUS SITUATION
The districts of Txurdínaga and Otxarcoaga are located in Bilbao’ district 3, one of the peripheral areas of the city. These districts grew during the post-war period when a large number of dwellings were built for workers on the slopes of the mountains that surround the city, characterised by scanty urban services and infrastructures.
As a result of this disorderly growth, the rocky embankment on Jesús Galíndez Avenue had the appearance of an isolated piece of land within the city and until today has divided the city both physically and socially.
At a time when major improvements are being made in the urban infrastructures in the centre of Bilbao, City Hall has also undertaken a number of projects on the outskirts of the city in order to:
-Improve the conditions of the urban space of a number of different outlying areas
-Eliminate physical barriers and improve the accessibility to these areas, which are almost always located on steep slopes
-Eliminate social barriers and improve the conditions of these areas in order to bring them up to the urban quality level of the centre of the city
