Taehwagang Grand Park태화강 자락의 버려진 땅이었던 태화들이 8년여 간의 공사를 마치고 전국 최대 규모의 도심 수변생태공원인 태화강대공원으로 다시 태어났다. 태화들은 태화강이 큰 사행천을 이루면서 토사가 쌓여 형성된 하천부지로 그동안 각종 불법 비닐하우스와 쓰레기들이 뒤섞인 채 방치되어 골치를 앓아왔으나, 공원이 들어서면서 생태휴식공간으로 거듭나게 되었다. 공원의 총 면적은 53만 1천㎡로 서울 여의도공원의 2.3배에 이른다. 그동안 ‘십리대숲’이나 ‘태화강 생태공원’으로 불리던 이름도 시민공모를 통해 ‘태화강대공원’으로 명명되었다. 태화강대공원은 총 2단계에 걸쳐 조성되었다. 1단계 사업은 2002년부터 2004년까지 3년에 걸쳐 완공했으며, 2단계 사업은 2007년부터 2009년 1월까지 ‘태화강 생태공원’ 기본 및 실시설계를 완료하고 2009년 4월부터 공사를 시작하여 1년여 만에 완공하였다.2단계 사업에서는 꼭 필요한 시설 위주의 공원 조성, 태화강과 생태공원의 이미지에 걸맞는 친환경적인 공법 및 자재 사용을 기본방향으로 설정하고, 계획구역 내 기존 수목 및 산책로 등은 최대한 존치시켜 활용하였으며 시민들의 휴식 및 야외행사, 자연체험학습 등에 적극 활용될 수 있도록 설계되었다. 실개천과물놀이장실개천은 태화강대공원에서 가장 눈길을 끄는 시설로 평균 너비 19m, 길이 1.1㎞의 물길이 공원 한 가운데를 가로지르며 흘러간다. 하루 1만 톤의 강변여과수가 흘러가며 수생식물 등 다년생 초화류가 식재되어 습지학습원으로 활용할 수 있다. 실개천 중간에는 물놀이장(길이 250m, 너비 10~40m, 평균 수심 40~60㎝)도 마련되었는데, 강자갈 등을 깔아 흙탕물이 일지 않도록 했으며, 얕은 구릉지에는 가족들이 쉴 수 있는 잔디밭과 물놀이철에 꽃이 피는 모감주나무, 자귀나무 등으로 나무그늘도 조성되어 있다. 실개천의 시작지점인 오산못에는벽천형태로 자연석을 쌓고 수련·부들·창포 등 수생식물을 심어 놓았다. 대나무생태원1만 700㎡ 규모의 대나무 생태원에는 구갑죽, 맹종죽, 오죽, 솜대, 왕대 등 국내종과 권문죽, 은명죽, 금양옥죽 등 일본과 중국 대나무 총 63종이 식재되어 있어 대나무의 생태와 특징을 한눈에 파악할 수 있다. 기존 십리대숲도 십리대밭교까지 200m 가량을 복원해 연결시켰다. Taehwagang Grand Park, which was planned as Park on 531,000㎡ field of the riverside of Taehwa in Ulsan, was constructed at two steps. The first step is that convenient facilities such as pergola and trail in a big scale bamboo forest on 89,000㎡ site.The second stage has completed recently with streamlet, bamboo garden, zelkova trail, outdoor stage, event plaza and flowering plant garden. At the center, there is always pure water flowing which is 1.1㎞ lengths and 19m widths. And wetland studying place and padding pool are constructed around streamlet with aquatic and flowering plants.Bamboo garden, which is 17,000㎡ widths with 63 species bamboos from Korea, Japan and China, makes people taking a glance the type, feature and ecology of bamboos. Panoramic Garden of CCIS파노라믹 정원은 이 사무소가 기존에 설계해 놓은 건물에 처음으로 구조적이고 계획적으로 개입을 시도했던 프로젝트이다. 이곳은 외벽을 유리로 마감한 대규모의 여름 연회 테라스로 지금의 VIP룸으로 확장되었다. 그리고 내부에는 공간을 지나가는 띠구조물을 만들어 이 구조물에 골에 공간을 만들어 무성한 열대식물을 식재하여 윈터가든✽8으로 만들었으며 어느 쪽에서든지 중심가의 아름다운 조망을 즐길 수 있도록 하였다. 또 이곳은 CCIS 건물에서 가장 매력적인 실내공간이며, 관리팀 회의뿐만 아니라 기념회, 수상식, 연회 오찬 등을 위해 만들어진 새로운 형태의 수직적이고 고급스러운 비즈니스, 클럽룸이라고 할 수 있다. 식물이 식재된 띠구조물은 행사의 종류와 참여자의 수에 따라 여러 가지 분위기를 낼 수 있도록 내부공간을 나누는 역할을 한다. 그리고 실내에 있는 식물과 열대화초들, 전등갓 같은 구조물에 의해 생기는 빛과 그림자 그리고 CCIS 건물 꼭대기에서 외부공간을 바라보는 조망 등이 어우러져 편안한 업무 분위기를 만들어 내고 있다. Panoramic Garden of CCIS project presents the first structural and programmatic intervention into the project already realized by our office. The large summer banquet terrace is to be glazed and extended into the current VIP room. Thus we formed an inner interior winter garden, where a spatial ribbon carries the troughs and baskets with lush tropical greenery, wherefrom one can enjoy a magnificent view of the city centre. Besides the vertical executive business and club rooms it also represents the most attractive interior space in the CCIS. It may be characterized as a new type of the business and club room that is intended for events such as ceremonial receptions, award-granting ceremonies, banquet luncheons as well as for meetings of extended management team. The green ribbon also enables the partition of the space into several micro-ambiences that may be used according to the type of event and the number of participants. Holland ParkHolland Park 내 위치한 여섯 동의 주거 단지는 그림 같은 유리창이 있는 흰색 벽의 단순함이 돋보이는 곳이다. 또한 다양한 크기의 직사각형 창문이 주택 내부로부터의 전망과 외부에서의 경관, 그리고 조각적인 아름다움을 고려해 높이를 달리하고 있다. 이 프로젝트는 수목보호지역의 기존 나무들을 보존하면서 기존의 지형과 나무들에 어울리는 단지조성과 경관형성으로 눈길을 끌고 있다. 또한 단지 내 거주자들의 공동체 의식을 함양시키면서 공간의 지속적인 변화를 이끌어 가고 있다. 이 프로젝트에서는 어떻게 하면 각 건물들이 주변의 다른 건물들과 대화를 하고, 잘 어울릴 수 있을까에 대해 고민하였다. 기존의 나무들은 대상지가 수목보호지역이기 때문에 보전되어야만 하였다. 기존 대상지의 가장 높은 곳에는 리엔 빌라Lien Villa가, 다행스럽게도 낮은 부분에는 빌라와 대비되는 수령 60살의 Eugenia grandis가 있어서 꼭대기에 있는 리엔 빌라에서 맨 아래의 고목까지 축이 형성되어 대상지를 가지런히 정리하는 기회가 되었다. 새로운 부지와 소유지들의 경계를 고려하여 리엔 빌라가 포함된 가장 큰 부지와 1,402㎡의 5개 부지를 새롭게 조성하였다. We had to consider how the houses were going to have a ‘ialog’with one another, how they were to keep company with each other. Existing trees on the site had to be conserved as the site is in a tree conservation zone. We also perceived that there had to be homage paid to the existing Lien Villa, which was situated at the highest point of the property. Fortunately there was a counterpoint at the far end, at the lower portion of the site: a magnificent 60-year-old Eugenia grandis. This relationship resulted in the alignment of the site to accommodate an axis from Lien Villa at the top, to the large tree at the bottom. In considering new lot lines and demarcation of properties, we were fortunate to accommodate 6 new plots with Lien Villa the largest plot; the other 5 were then realigned to contain exactly 1,402 s.m. Barry Curtis Park 배리 커티스 공원은 100년 동안의 조성계획을 가지고 있는 뉴질랜드 최대 규모의 도시공원으로, 완공이 되고 나면 94헥타르(94만 평방미터)에 이르는 오클랜드 도메인Auckland Domain 공원보다 규모가 크다. 새 플랫부시Flat Bush(마누카우 도시에 있는 마을) 성장지역 중심에 위치한 배리 커티스 공원은 마누카우Manukau 지역 내의 시민들에게 이용될 뿐만 아니라 주변 지역의 주요 문화공연, 스포츠 행사, 음악 페스티벌도 유치하게 될 것이다. 2009년 4월 공원의 북부지역이 완공되면서 공식으로 개장하였다. 이 공원의 북부지역은 1,700만 달러 규모의 프로젝트로, Isthmus Group의 지휘 아래 선발된 수천 명의 협력자들이 투입되면서 10년에 걸쳐 계획과 설계, 그리고 공사가 완료되었다. 이는 지속적인 비전을 유지한 클라이언트의 인내심과 원안을 그대로 보존시킨 디자인과정을 보여준 작품이다. 또한 디자인이 프로젝트를 주도한 선례로, 시간의 경과에 따라 원래 계획된 마스터플랜의 틀이 더욱 강화되고 실증되었다. 배리 커티스 공원은 사람들이 의도하는 대로 사용되거나, 또는 전혀 의도되지 않은 많은 방식으로 이용되면서 진화하게 될 것이다. Barry Curtis Park is the largest urban park to be built in New Zealand for 100 years and once completed, will be larger than the Auckland Domain at a total area of 94 hectares. It is perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity for Isthmus Group to design and build a park of such significance. Located at the heart of the new Flatbush growth area, Barry Curtis Park will serve the people of Manukau as well as hosting major cultural, sporting and music festivals for the wider region. The completed northern portion of the park was formally opened by Prime Minister John Key in April 2009, following 10 years of planning, design and construction from a cast of thousands of collaborators led by Isthmus Group, and a project value to date of $17 million. The result is testament to the integrity of the design process, and the persistence of the client in upholding an enduring vision. This is a design led project that has been tested and strengthened within the original master planned framework over time.
