Schematic Design and Construct Design for SUNCHEON BAY Garden Expo 2013 순천만국제정원박람회장 설계는 주박람회장뿐만 아니라 기존수림대를 활용한 수목원과 순천에서 바다로 합류하는 동천, 순천만연안습지와 연계한 국제습지센터 구역 등 다양한 경관과 프로그램을 효율적으로 관람 가능하도록 하는 것이 가장 중요한 부분이었다. 농경지로 활용되던 주박람회장은 기존 수림이나 시설을 활용하는 것이 아닌, 성토를 통해 새로운 조건으로 조성하는 개념이었다. 반면 수목원과 습지, 동천은 기존의 자연환경과 순천시의 재해방지, 순천만 연안습지와의 연계성, 마을주민들의 기존동선구조 등을 고려해야 한다는 차이가 있었다. 이번 회에는 수목원과 습지, 동천을 횡단하는 교량에 대해 이야기하고자 한다. 세월교보행교량 리모델링신동천교는 보행으로 횡단할 수 없는 남승룡길의 교량으로 인해 박람회장을 구성하는 중요한 요소가 되고 있다. 이 횡단교량의 배치에 따라 수목원, 습지 구역뿐만 아니라 주박람회장의 계획도 많은 변경이 있었다. 물론 동천에도 세월교라는 기존의 보행교량은 있다. 하지만 교량의 높이가 제방과 제방을 잇는 교량이 아닌, 저수호안을 잇는 교량으로 홍수위보다 낮고 교량이 노후화되어 안정성에 문제가 있었다. 또한 박람회 관람 시 제방 아래로 내려와 동천을 건너고 다시 제방 위로 올라가야 하는 이동상의 불편함이 있었다. 홍수 시에 부유물 등으로 인한 난간의 파손 등을 감안하여 자동 전도식 난간을 도입하는 안도 계획하였으나 관람동선의 불편함과 교량구조의 노후화, 동천 이용객들과의 동선 교차 등의 이유들로 세월교를 활용하는 방안은 제외되었다. 과업명 : 2013순천만국제정원박람회장 조성사업 실시설계 용역위치 : 전라남도 순천시 오천동, 풍덕동, 해룡면 일원과업 진행 시 - 박람회장(녹색나눔숲 포함) _ 609,000㎡ - 수목원 및 습지 (습지센터 제외) _ 312,000㎡ - 저류지 (기본계획) _ 245,000㎡ - 총 1,166,000㎡

Won Dharma Center, NY 원불교 미주 총부의 원다르마센터가 들어선 이 땅은, 멀리 서쪽으로 허드슨강과 캣스킬산을 향해 아주 완만하게 흐르는 500에이커에 이르는 방대한 초지로 이루어져 있다. 자연과 극적으로 마주하는, 시적이고 영적인 기운이 충만하게 펼쳐진 땅이다. 조경계획의 핵심은, 방대한 대지를 어떻게 직조해야 대지가 가진 순도 높은 가치를 해치지 않으면서도 명상과 관련된 활동을 담아내고, 풍광에 몰입하게 하는가였다. 우선적으로 고려된 건축 프로그램은, 명상과 집회를 위한 홀과 방문자들을 머물게 하는 몇몇 숙소건물의 배치였다. 건물군이 대지의 흐름을 방해하지 않도록 하기위해 현지에서 건축가와 더불어 적지 선정 작업을 진행하였다. 그 외에도 빗물이 모이고 흩어지는 일시적 풍광을 담아낼 수 있는 우수저류연못, 인근의 지역주민들과 함께 과수를 재배하고 교류하는 소규모 과수원 등의 프로그램도 계획에 포함되었다. 그러나 무엇보다 가장 중요한 것은, 지면을 가득채운 초지의 풍광을 그대로 유지하는 것이었다. 2012년 1월 준공한 원다르마센터는 광활한 대지의 질서를 존중하면서, 건축물과 경관이 하나의 유기적인 조직체로 상생하는 가치를 최우선으로 고려한 프로젝트다. 마스터플랜에서 제안한 여러 의미 있는 내용들이 일시에 실현되지는 않았지만, 점진적인 실행계획을 통해 하나하나 구현되기를 기대해 본다. Dramatically facing the nature, it is replete with poetic and spiritual energy. How to weave the vast land in order to reflect meditation-related activities and to make immersed in landscape without vitiating pure land were the key to the landscape planning. Other programs including rainwater pond to reflect transitory landscape by the gathering and scattering rainwater, little orchard to communicate with the local community by cultivating fruits together are planned. However, maintenance of the original meadow landscape took the priority. Won Dharma Center project, completed in January 2012, respected natural order of the vast land and took the value of organic coexistence of building and landscape as the primary concern. The architect and the landscape architect transcended each other’s bounds, and communicated closely until they attained ideal disposition and composition. Anything cannot dominate the site, and horizontal and serene order is maintained. Though everything in the master plan was not realized at once, progressive carry out is expected.

Gwanggyo Lake Park 광교신도시를 대표하는 공간이자 상징이 된 광교호수공원은 기존 원천저수지와 신대저수지를 기반으로 조성되었다. 저수지는 기능적으로 농업용수와 홍수조절을 위해 생겼으나, 1970년대 급격한 도시화 속에서 교외의 유원지로 변모되었다. 유원지로 조성된 후 경기남부 지역 주민들의 공원으로서 사랑받았던 이곳은 오래된 세월의 켜를 증명이라도 하듯 시설낙후와 위락시설로 인하여 사람들로부터 점점 외면 받는 장소가 되었다. 저수지의 기능은 변화되었지만 공동체의 장으로서, 쉼터로서 우리와 함께한 저수지가 또 다시 변화를 시도한다. 이후 2004년 광교택지개발예정지구에 원천·신대호수 일원이 포함되면서 다시 주목을 받게 되었고, 2008년 국내 조경설계 공모로는 최초로 RFQ(Request for Qualification:참가의향서)방식으로 진행되었으며, 국내외 8개 업체가 지명초청 되어 경쟁을 하였다. 약 5개월간의 레이스를 마친 결과, 당선작인 신화컨설팅의 ‘어반 레저버(Urban Reservoir)’를 기반으로 약 5년 동안의 실시설계 및 조성공사를 거쳐 지난 4월, 높은 기대 속에 광교호수공원이 새롭게 태어났다. 어번레비와 6개 둠벙광교호수공원은 원천호수와 신대호수 그리고 근린공원(6호) 일대를 말하는데 원천호수가 먼저 완공되었고, 5개월 이후 신대호수가 그 모습을 드러냈다. 사람들의 이동통로이자 휴식, 모임의 장소였던 기존 제방에서 이어지는 새로운 제방 “어번레비”와 땅이 가진 고유한 특성으로 부터 새롭게 창조된 장소인 “6개의 둠벙”으로 조성하였다. 6개 둠벙은 신비한 물너미(Secret of the Water Cylinder), 다목적체험장(Multipurpose Lawn), 행복한 들(Field of Joy(Korean Picnic)), 조용한 물 숲 & 향긋한 꽃 섬(Silent Water Forest and Flower Island), 먼 섬숲(Remote Island Forest), 재미난 밭(The Fun Field) 등으로 원천호수와 신대호수 주변 곳곳에 조성되어 도시의 다이내믹한 삶으로 작동하는 호수공원의 역할을 톡톡히 해내고 있다. For the first time in Korea for the landscape design competition, RFQ(Request for Qualification) was introduced that 8 Korean and international designated invitees were selected. “Urban Soft Power” by Synwha Consulting won the first prize, and it was completed after 5years’ working design and construction. Woncheon Reservoir has been a place of memory and relaxation for the people of Suwon and the southern part of the greater Seoul area, while Sindae Reservoir provided fishing spots and agricultural water. Focusing on the location of the reservoirs at the heart of a city, fulfilling the function of agricultural reservoir, urban nature, and dynamic urban life, and respecting the vernacular values and cultural memories of the site, we designed a lakeside park which will be a creative and cultural infrastructure of the Gwanggyo New Town. “Urban Levee” bank, which connects existing bank used as corridor and place for relaxation and meeting, and new “Six Dumbung(puddles),” which reflects the intrinsic values of the site, are introduced.
