Miami Beach SoundScape
도심에 위치한 링컨 공원은 1만㎡가 약간 넘는 작은 규모로, 새로운 선례가 될 만한 공원을 조성하기 위해 고군분투하고 있는 플로리다Florida주 남쪽 마이애미시 비치의 워싱턴가와 17번가에 걸쳐 위치해 있다. 이러한 작은 도시공원들은 종종 부드러운 외관을 강조하기 보다는 포장면을 강조하는 디자인을 선호하는 경향이 있는데, 링컨 공원은 부지가 가지는 특성과 프로그램들을 통해 독특한 해결책을 이끌어 내었다. 이 공공 공간은 초기 계획 단계부터‘녹음’을 느끼도록 하고 공원을 더욱 좋아할 수 있도록 설계하였다.
West 8 은 광장이 아닌 녹음이 있는 공원, 친밀함을 느낄 수 있고 나무 그늘이 어우러지는 편안한 공원, 세계적인 명소인 New World Symphony 빌딩과 어울릴 수 있는 공원 조성이라는 과제를 수행하면서 확실한 입지를 다지게 되었다.
링컨 공원은 마이애미 해변의 정신과 활기를 반영하고 있으며, 낮에는 나무 그늘 아래서, 밤에는 별이 빛나는 하늘 아래서 다양한 이용 행태가 일어날 수 있도록 조성되었다.
The Lincoln Park site is a small —slightly larger than 1 hectare in size —urban site located at Washington Avenue and 17th Street in South Florida that strives to establish a new precedent for parks in the City of Miami Beach. While an urban park this size might often receive a design that has more hard surface than soft, Lincoln Park’ site-specific conditions, context and program elicited a unique response. A decision was made early in the design process for this public space to feel ‘reen’and more like a park.
With West 8 firmly positioned to deliver its mission of a green park, not a plaza, a park that feels intimate, shady, and soft was created; a park that will support the world-class attraction of the New World Symphony Building. Lincoln Park reflects the spirit and vitality of Miami Beach and will support a multitude of day and night uses, either under the shade of the trees or a starlit sky.
