IFC Seoul
IFC Seoul은 서울시와 AIG코리아부동산개발이 공동으로 진행한 프로젝트로, 여의도를 동북아의 금융허브로 만드는 교두보가 될 것으로 기대를 모으며 많은 이들의 관심 속에 지난 8월 문을 열었다. 이곳은 여의도의 심장부에 해당하는 공간으로 주변에 밀집한 오피스 빌딩들로 인해 용적률이 높아 쉴 곳이 부족하고, 여의대로와 지하철 여의도역, 여의도 버스 환승센터 앞에서 곧바로 연결되어 유동인구가 많다는 점에 착안하여 외부공간을 공개공지로서의 기능을 강화하는데 중점을 두어 설계되었다. 도심지에 조성되는 오픈 스페이스이기에 복잡하고 화려한 설계보다는 심플한 느낌의 열린 공간이 되도록 주요 건물을 제외한 공간에는 과한 구조물을 자제하였다. 또한 식재도 최소한의 종을 선정하여 사용하고, 경계석의 높이를 기존 경계석보다 약 5㎝ 낮게 설치하여 시각적으로 잘 드러나지 않도록 한 것이 특징이다.

IFC Seoul, which is a joint project of the Seoul Metropolitan Government and AIG Korean Real Estate Development, was finally completed in August. Situated in the heart of Yeouido, the complex is surrounded by office buildings concentrated in the area. The floor space index is relatively high, and thus green space is difficult to find. Everyday a huge number of citizens visit Yeouido Subway Station and Yeouido Bus Transfer Center located right in front of IFC Seoul. Considering all of the above, the landscape architects designed the exterior of the building to serve as public open space. As it is placed in the very center of the urban area, not a complicated and fancy design but rather simplified one was employed. In addition, the number of species for planting was restricted, and the height of boundary stones is 5㎝ lower than usual, which make them less visible.
