강남구청 본관 옥상공원

There seldom are opportunities to see nature in modern people’s daily life. Therefore, a rooftop garden has an important role of a construction of green spaces on a top of a building, an establishment of a space for using by people, a relaxation of heat island effect in urban environment and a construction of green parks to contribute energy-saving. The reason for a construction of a garden on there is too low ratio of surrounded greens around Gangnam-gu Office to provide insufficient outdoor green spaces for residents. With this situation, greens out of the total area were constructed more than 80%. Even if its location is on the roof, it strongly has a functional role such as city green networks through an introduction of various plant species and a preservation of natural ecosystems, has planned an eco-friendly space with water features with swampy lands. A rooftop garden on the main office building of Gangnam-gu office provides many different experience, rest and communication spaces, and, of course, makes to raise an image making: economic values of buildings and social roles as a public institution.

사람이 살아가는데 가장 필요한 것 중 하나는 자연이다. 자연은 사람을 숨쉬게 하고, 사람이 먹을 수 있게 하며, 궁국적으로 사람을 살게 한다. 하지만 도시에 사는 현대인들은 일상에서 자연을 볼 수 있는 기회가 그리 많지 않다. 그래서 건물 옥상을 이용하여 녹지를 조성하고, 사람이 이용 가능한 공간을 만들며, 도시 열섬 완화와 에너지 절약에도 기여하는 푸른 공원을 조성하고 있다. 강남구청의 옥상공원도 주변의 녹지율이 현저히 낮고, 지역주민들이 이용할 만한 야외녹지시설이 부족함에 따라 조성되었다.
