Gardens by the Bay

AHBE는 싱가포르 도심 한복판에 추진되고 있는 세 곳의 신규 공원 건설 프로젝트에 대한 국제 디자인 공모전에 초청받아 참가하였다. AHBE는 싱가포르를 위해 섬(island), 안식처(sanctuary), 그리고 놀이터(playground)라는 세 가지 새로운 체험 공간을 준비하였다.
생활, 일, 그리고 놀이를 위한 도시 공간으로서 “섬”이라는 컨셉은 도심 지역에 새롭고 독특한 생태계를 제공하게 될 것이다. 둥둥 떠다니는 아일랜드 범프를 전략적으로 배치해 이용객들이 싱가포르의 스카이라인을 감상할 수 있도록 하는 한편, 분주한 도시 생활로부터 잠시나마 벗어날 수 있도록 해준다. 디자인에는 안식처로서의 공간 또한 마련되어 있다. 산책로를 따라 여기저기 돌아다니는 동안 방문객들은 토착 열대 생태계를 경험하게 되며, 안식처에 서식하는 조류 및 기타 야생동물을 만나게 된다. 가든스 바이 더 베이는 가족 및 어른들 모두에게 즐거운 놀이의 공간이 되어줄 것이다. “놀이터”는 싱가포르 시민들이 커뮤니티 기반의 공간을 통해 서로 간의 우의를 다질 수 있는 장소이다. 공원 바닥은 물결치는 듯한 모습으로 디자인되었는데, 이곳에는 담수 및 해수로 채워진 수영장과 연못을 비롯해 파도 풀, 그리고 레인보우 미스트 등이 들어서 있다

AHBE was invited to participate in an international design competition for three new parks in the heart of downtown Singapore. The firm’s design imagined three new experiences for Singapore: an island, a sanctuary, and a playground.
As an urban place for living, working and playing, the concept of the “island” a new and unique ecology to the downtown area. Floating island bumps were placed strategically so that users can enjoy the views of Singapore’s skyline, creating a temporary respite from urban life. Our design also proposed a place of sanctuary. As they meander along a trail, visitors would come upon gardens of native tropical ecology and engage with birds and other wildlife within the sanctuary. Gardens By the Bay also poses as a natural playground for families and adults alike. The “playground” is a place where the residents of Singapore can socially interact among themselves in a community-based space. Ground undulations designed into the park would become a series community swimming holes and water fountains filled with freshwater, saltwater, wave pool and rainbow mists.
