아칸소강Arkansas River을 통해 툴사Tulsa 시민들은 조깅 코스, 공원, 그리고 레스토랑이
들어선 새로운 활기로 가득한 워터프론트와 만날 수 있다. 공공 활동이 주를 이루는 일련의 옥외 공간을 마련함으로써 과거, 현재, 미래를 하나로 아우르는 가상의 워터프론트 디자인을 마련하고, 이를 바탕으로 강과 육지가 만나는 경계 지역을 되찾아올 수 있을 것이다.�이는 곧 자발성을 기반으로 한 새로운 활동들이 강가에서 펼쳐질 수 있는 장소를 꿈꾸는 것이며, 이곳에서 사람들은 물을 만져보고, 더불어 수변 생태계에 대해 알아가게 될 것이다.
“경계선의 회복Reclaiming the Edge”은 세 가지 건전한 원리들에 기초하여 진행된다.
1) 도로의 재구성을 통한 열린 공간 마련: 우리는 사회 기반 시설이 워터프론트를 차지하고 있는 모습을 세계 도처에서 목격할 수 있었다. 이제 샌프란시스코에서 시애틀, 그리고 중국 상하이에 이르기까지 도시들은 자신들의 워터프론트를 되찾아와 이를 녹색 열린 공간으로 재창조하고 있다.
2) 누구나 접근하기 쉬운 워터프론트 조성: 많은 사랑을 받는 워터프론트는 차량과 도보로 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 곳이다. 우리는 사람들이 워터프론트를 활용하는 방식에 초점을 맞춘 새로운 형태의 기반 시설을 마련하고자 한다. 기존의 26마일 리버 트레일River Trail 시스템을 유지, 개선하는 것과 더불어 다양한 여가 활동을 위한 흥미롭고 새로운 장소들을 만들어 내는 것이 중요할 것이다.
3) 생태적 공간 창조: 역사적인 도시 개발을 통해 우리가 자연을 이해하는 방식이 달라졌다는 사실에는 의심의 여지가 없다. “경계선의 회복”은 프로젝트의 허용 범위 내에서 자연을 개선, 보완, 그리고 해석해내고자 한다.
Project Statement
The Arkansas River provides the city of Tulsa an opportunity to connect its citizens with a reinvigorated waterfront stretched by jogging trails, parks, and restaurants. Reclaiming the edge is an imagined riverfront design that integrates the past, pres and future by providing a series of outdoor rooms where public life can take center stage. It is a vision of a place where spontaneity leads to new activities along the river’ edge; where people can touch the water and learn about the embedded his ecologies.
Reclaiming the Edge is based on three sound principles
(1) Realign roads to create open space. The world has seen its share of infrastructure dominating waterfronts; from Seattle, to San Francisco, to Shanghai, China, cities are reclaiming their waterfronts and envisioning them with green open space. (2) Make access to the waterfront easy for everyone. A well loved waterfront is one that is easily accessible by foot and car. We seek to create a new kind of incentered on how people utilize the waterfront. It will be important to maintain and enhance the existing 26 mile River Trail system while creating new and exciting venues for passive and active recreation. (3) Make it eco The historic development of the city has undoubtedly changed how we see nature. Reclaiming the Edge seeks to enhance, repair and interpret nature within the boundaries of the project scope.
