Hawngudan

환구단은 서울특별시 중구 소공동 87-1번지 일원에 위치하며, 면적은 4,278㎡로, 고종34년(1897) 중국과의 종속적 관계에서 벗어나 대한제국이 되면서 하늘에 제사를 지내고, 황제 즉위식을 거행하기 위해 세운 곳으로, 현재 황궁우, 석고단, 삼문 등이 자연과 인공이 화합하는 순응의 미학을 공간적, 지형적으로 연계시키고 있다. 1967년 7월 18일 사적 제157호로 지정되었다.

Hawngudan which is located in 87-1, Sogongdong, Jung-gu, Seoul is 4,278m2 area. It is the representative Hawngudan that was constructed in 1897 for the sake of King Gojong hold a harvest ceremony. The aesthetics of adaptation is connected spatially, topographically and functionally with Hawnggungu, Seokgodan and Sammun etc. It was appointed as a Historical Site No.157 in 18th, July, 1967.
