Barangaroo

호주 시드니의 바랑가로는 항만으로의 최적의 접근성을 지니 수려한 해안 지역이자, 성공적인 경제개발구역인 동시에, 뉴사우스웨일스주와 호주 국민들이 자랑스러워할 만한 장소로 발전할 것이다. 60억 달러(AUD)로 평가되고 있는 바랑가루는 뉴사우스웨일스 지역에 수십억 달러에 이르는 경제적 파급 효과를 불러오고 있으며, 수천 개의 고용기회 및 일자리를 창출하고 있다.

프로젝트가 완공될 즈음이면, 바랑가루는 도시인들이 어떻게 지속가능한 삶을 영위해나갈 수 있는지 분명하게 보여줄 것이다. 여기에는 21세기 시드니 서부 지역의 새로운 얼굴이 될 6헥타르 규모의 헤드랜드공원(Headland Park)이 포함되어 있는데, 이 공원은 1836 밀러스 포인트 헤드랜드 파크(1836 Miller’s Point Headland Park)를 재건하는 한편 문화행사 등을 치를 수 있는 다용도 공원을 추가로 건립함으로써 완성된다. 또한 문화센터, 상업용 오피스빌딩, 아파트, 그리고 해안 전역의 보행자로와 연결되는 해변 산책로 등이 별도로 건설될 예정인데, 해변 산책로의 경우 The Rocks에서 바랑가루를 거쳐 Darling Harbor까지 연결된다. 바랑가루를 위해 신규 및 연장 교통망이 마련될 예정인데, Wynyard Train Station까지 직접 연결되는 보행자 터널, Hickson Boulevard에 건설되는 경전철, 그리고 대규모 페리 터미널 등을 꼽을 수 있다.
부지는 크게 헤드랜드공원, 바랑가루 센트럴(Barangaroo Central), 그리고 바랑가루 사우스(Barangaroo South)의 세 구역으로 구분된다.

Barangaroo predicts a bright future for Sydney, Australia, site of a spectacular waterfront precinct that provides maximum access to the harbor, a location of successful economic development, and a place that everyone in NSW and Australia can be proud of. Valued at over $6 billion AUD , Barangaroo is delivering a multi-billion dollar stimulus to the NSW economy, providing employment opportunities and jobs for thousands of people.

When complete, Barangaroo will prove a demonstration of how city populations can live sustainably. As a new twenty-first-century western face to the city it will include six hectares of headland park, a re-creation of the 1836 Miller’s Point Headland, plus an additional park designed for multiple-use cultural events, a cultural center, commercial office towers, apartments, and a waterfront promenade connecting the pedestrian link to all of the harbor edge, from The Rocks through Barangaroo to Darling Harbor.
Barangaroo will be served by new and extended transport systems, including a new pedestrian tunnel link directly into Wynyard Train Station, new light rail on Hickson Boulevard, and a major ferry terminal. The site has been divided into three redevelopment areas: The Headland Park, Barangaroo Central, and Barangaroo South.
