정읍 김동수 가옥은 전라북도 정읍시 산외면1 오공리 814에 위치하며, 조선 정조 8년(1784) 김명관이 지은 것으로, 약 15,510㎡ 일원에 안채, 사랑채, 행랑채, 사당, 호지집 등에서 자연과 인공이 화합하는 순응의 미학을 공간적, 지형적으로 연계시키고 있다. 또한 소박한 가옥구조와 기법 등에서 조선후기 호남지방 사대부 가옥의 모습을 원형대로 잘 유지하고 있어 건축을 비롯한 여러 분야의 좋은 연구 자료로 평가받고 있다. 1?971년 5월 26일 중요민속자료 제26호로 지정되었다.
Kim Dong-su’s old house which is located in 814, Ogong-ri, Sanoi-myeon, Jeongeup-si, Jeollabuk-do was constructed by Kim Myeong-kwan in the 8th year of King Jeongjo's reign(1784). The aesthetics of adaption is connected spatially, topographically, and functionally with Sarangche, Jungmunchae, Anchae, Ansarangchae and the shrine. The building construction and construction techniques are well preserved in this house as a Sadaebu’s house of the latter part of the Joseon Dynasty and it receives high praise as a good resource for architect and etcetera. It is appoined Important Folk Material no.26 in 26, May, 1971.
