Sacheon Hyanggyo

사천향교는 경상남도 사천시 사천읍 선인리 119번지 일원에 위치하며, 면적은 3,455㎡로, 세종 22년1440 치성재(致誠齋)·동재(東齋)·서재(西齋)·명륜당(明倫堂) 등의 건물을 짓고 수학원 학사서재(修學院 學舍書齋)라고 칭한 것이 효시이다. 이후 임진왜란1592 때 소실되었다가, 인조 23년1645 현재의 위치로 옮겨 중건하고, 현종 5년1664 대성전(大成殿) 등을 건립한 이후 오늘에 이르고 있다. 중요 건물로는 외삼문, 풍화루, 동재, 서재, 전사실, 명륜당 등이 자연과 인공이 화합하는 순응의 미학을 공간적, 지형적으로 연계시키고 있다. 1983년 8월 12일 경상남도 유형문화재 제220호로 지정되었다.

Sacheon Hyanggyo which is located in 119, Seonin-ri, Sacheon-eup, Sacheon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do is 3,455㎡ area. After constructed in the 22th year of King Sejong’s reign(1440), it was used for a religious service to ancient sages as a emotional support of the Joseon dynasty. The aesthetics of adaption is connected with Daeseongjeon, Gongbansil, Chiseongjae, Myeongnyundang, Dongjae, and Seojae spatially, topographically and functionally. It was appointed as tangible cultural properties of Gyeongsangnam-do 220 in 12th of August, 1983.
