환경과조경

<환경과조경>의 창간30주년을 진심으로 축하드립니다. 지난 30년간 한국의 조경분야에 있어 발전상은 놀라운 수준이며, 그 모든 기록이 고스란히 <환경과조경>에 담겨 있음은 부인할 수 없는 사실일 것입니다.

저를 열광시킨 것은 언제나 새로움을 추구하는 한국의 조경이었습니다. 역사적 환경의 의미를 살려서 새로운 것들에 영향을 미치고, 조경문화의 영역으로 끌어들이는 결과물에 대해 매우 놀랍다고 생각합니다. 이러한 지속적인 발전을 이뤄온 한국의 전통문화는 생태학적이고 예술적이며, 앞으로 미래의 한국 조경을 완전하게 지탱해줄 밑바탕이 될 것이라 믿어 의심치 않습니다.

<환경과조경>이 다음 세대를 위한 하나의 철로 역할을 하기를 희망합니다. 한국의 조경계획분야는 다양한 활동영역을 지니게 될 것이며, 이를 <환경과조경>을 통해 지속적으로 관심을 갖고 지켜볼 것입니다. 저는 언제나 <환경과조경>을 응원합니다.

ELA, Be a Strong 'Railroad' for the Korean Landscape Architecture

I would like to convey my sincere congratulations to the 30th anniversary of the ELA. For the last 30 years, the landscape architecture of Korea has been showing astonishing development and the ELA witnessed and documented all these achievements.

I have been excited by the landscape architecture of Korea, which always pursues novelty. In the landscape architecture elds of Korea, harmony between understanding on the meaning of historic environment and the novelty made wonderful results. I am sure that the tradition of Korea, ecologically and artistically,
will build the rm basis for the promising future of the landscape architecture of Korea. 
 
I hope the ELA establish a bridgehead for the future generation! The landscape architecture of Korea will have a broad variety of activity, and I will be seeing it with constant interest by reviewing the ELA. I always support the ELA.

1948년 호엔호프시에서 태어난 그는 에센에서 철학을 공부하였으며, 하노버에서 경관 관리학 석사, 카이저슬라우테른에서 공간계획학 박사학위를 취득하였다. 1976부터 1984년까지 에센대학에서 환경평가, 생태적 계획, 생태이론 및 경관미학과 관련한 연구프로젝트를 수행하였으며, 현재 하펜시티 함부르크대학교 도시계획학과 교수로 재직 중이다. 또한 도시생태 및 환경계획 연구소 소장, 4thNature CEO, cultscapes와 parklab Hamburg의 회원으로도 활동하고 있으며, ‘문화재건을 통한 지속가능한 도시 발전’과 ‘기후변화에 대응한 지능적 도시자원네트워크 전략 수립’에도 관심을 기울이고 있다.
