Myriad Botanical Gardens
1998년에 개장한 5에이커 규모의 미리어드 식물원은 오클라호마시 도심 구조에 필수적인 요소이다. 인접해 있는 드봉 에너지(Devon Energy)사의 세계본부 건설과 관련하여 조세증액금융구역(TIF District: A Tax Increment Financing District) 방식으로 자금이 지원되었고, 이에 오클라호마시는 식물원의 많은 수목표본을 보호하는 동안 보행동선의 개선, 가시성 확보, 프로그램 활동 구역 증대를 골자로 한 개발 디자인을 제임스 버넷 사무소에 의뢰하였다.
새롭게 리노베이션 된 크리스털 브리지 열대 온실에 도착한 방문자들은 잔디밭에서 퍼포먼스를 본다거나 레스토랑에서 식사를 즐기며, 카페에서 커피를 마시기에 앞서 공원을 통해 다양하고 전문적인 식물원을 거닐게 된다. 새로운 산책로와 연속적이고 유연한 정원 공간들은 매년 개최되는 오클라호마시 아트 페스티벌의 확충된 프로그램을 지원한다. 공원 도처에 조성된 확 트인 어린이 정원, 강아지 파크, 설치미술품들은 정원이 모든 사람들에게 중요한 장소가 되도록 보장한다.
Opened in 1988, the 15-acre Myriad Botanical Gardens is an integral component in the downtown fabric of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funded by TIF district proceeds related to the construction of the adjacent Devon Energy World Headquarters, the City of Oklahoma City hired the Office of James Burnett to develop a design that improves pedestrian circulation, increases visibility and provides additional areas for programmed activity while respecting the many specimen trees on site.
Arriving at the newly-renovated Crystal Bridge tropical conservatory, visitors to the park meander through a variety of specialty botanical gardens before grabbing a coffee at the caf?, enjoying a meal at the restaurant or watching a performance on the great lawn. New public promenades and a series of flexible garden spaces support the expanded program of Oklahoma City’s annual Festival of the Arts. An expansive children’s garden, a dog park and art installations throughout the park ensure that the gardens offer something for everyone.
